Healthy Heart
Approximately 300,000 people in the UK have a heart attack each year. It is a major cause of death affecting both men and women. Half of those who die, do so from cardiac arrest (the heart stopping completely) within 3 or 4 hours of the start of the attack.
Some of the causes of a heart attack are:
Are you heading for a heart attack?
There are plenty of adverts advising us to stop smoking, take more exercise or to eat a healthy diet. I am sure that we all need to take heed especially the older we get. Those with family history of heart problems need to take note and get a check up.
In the spiritual sense we need to have a check-up considering our family history. Before we were saved (born again) we all had a stony heart. It was unresponsive to God and His will. We were sinners.
We who are saved can praise God that He removed that stony heart and gave us a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:26)
To remain healthy in the Lord we should not smoke. That is that we need to be careful of the environment we are inhaling. We need to make sure that our diet is right. What are you feeding upon spiritually today? What type of TV, books or other types of media are you feeding on? Make sure you take plenty of exercise in the Lord’s work. Remember to read His word, pray and witness for Christ on a regular basis. It is true that one week without prayer make one weak.
A healthy heart is one that:
Seeks the Lord – 2 Chronicles 11:16
Is sound in the statutes of God – Psalm 119:80
Doesn’t have envy – Proverbs 14:30
Knows God – Jeremiah 24:7
Pliable, obedient and responsive to God – Ezekiel 11:19&20
Instead of that bag of crisps and fizzy drink have a change of heart and have a piece of fruit. Drink that bottle of water and take that overdue exercise.
If you are still living you can change your lifestyle. It’s not too late. Have a healthy heart!
