Building
As we look around the province we can see a
multitude of new buildings. This has been the result of a very buoyant market.
The building market has been at full throttle for some time until the recent
interest rates have hit. The private home market has recently started to cool
off. One of the results of this cooling has been the number of redundancies in
the Building and Estate Agents professions.
I am sure that no wants to see people
losing their jobs or a massive downturn in investments. A wise man once told me
that sometimes the markets will be ahead of themselves or behind but they will
correct themselves in the fullness of time.
More importantly we who are Christians
should be more concerned with the building of the body (Church) of Jesus Christ.
The Bible says in Ephesians 4:12 -
For
the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of
the body of Christ:
The word edifying gives us the thought of
building or of architecture. This building will not be stopped or slowed by high
interest rates. Read Ephesians 4:29 and think of what can destroy the building
of the Church or Body of Jesus Christ.
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”
The greatest danger is the interest rate of
corrupt communication. If edifying is to build then corrupt communication must
be to tear down. It is corrupt, rotten or worthless. What words tear down?
These are but a few of the cleaner words,
which tear down. I am sure that we are all guilty of using words that criticize,
belittle or tear down. The minister or those in leadership may often receive a
high interest rate.
Will you be an edifier of the church or one
who pulls it down by your words?
Let us be careful what we say this week.
