Broken Tooth

Time moves on no matter how hard we try to stop it. The older we get many things start to change.

  • The hair changes colour
  • The eyesight start to grow dim
  • We need a hearing aid or two
  • Our smell and taste start to disappear
  • Our teeth start to decay and need work
  • Our strength diminishes with time etc

My experience this past week has been the removal of a wisdom tooth. The dentist tried to make me feel good by saying that the wisdom tooth really didn’t matter. In my case it never helped my wisdom but I am sure it helped me eat. To late to worry, age is marching on.

This experience reminded me of a verse in Proverbs 25:19 which says:

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

What is an unfaithful man? He is someone who is not loyal. He is person a who cannot be trusted. He is someone you cannot rely on. We all pass through difficult times. During these times we need a person we can rely, trust and who is loyal to us. Let us be careful whom we are relying on during difficult times. Many times the one who comes through for us is from the most unexpected place.

As we look at this verse our prayer should be that we should be faithful in the time of trouble. We should help and not hinder, as a true friend. Others should be able to lean on us.

Who is in trouble this week? Is there someone who is sick? Is there some family who needs our support?

A broken tooth is painful. It is annoying. It is unwelcome.

Are you like a broken tooth? Have you got a spirit that is painful to listen to or is it annoying and unwelcome. If you have then get it repaired or get it removed.

Ask the Holy Spirit to work on you in the dentist chair.

Go on and be a faithful man today and show those pearly whites.
